The Tragedy of Love in Verona

"The Tragedy of Love in Verona"

Two lovers Romeo and Juliet committed suicide in the lovely city of Verona. It all started last week when they met in Tybalt's' Birthday bash at the Capulet's mansion. It was love at first sight! However Romeo was a Montague and Juliet a Capulet; they where meant to be enemies for life. They kept their relationship aside and made it a secret who only the Friar and Nurse knew about. A few days later after Juliet and Romeo got married Tybalt and Romeo had an argument. Tybalt(Juliet's cousin) ended up killing Romeo's best friend Mercutio. This enraged Romeo and caused him to kill Tybalt. Therefore Romeo was banned from Verona for life and was sentenced to be killed if they saw him. The Friar had came up with a plan fake Juliet's death so that her and Romeo could run away. However, the plan didn't quite get to Romeo; He really thought she was dead. When he went to go see for himself he killed himself next to her, when Juliet woke up she saw him and did the same thing he did.

Romeo was a 16 year old Montague. The heir of the Montague family. He was known to be a very quiet and sensitive. He never looked for problems and managed to stay out of them. His best friend was Mercutio and related to Benvolio. He was madly in love with Juliet. He did everything possible for them to be together but it all ended in a tragic way.

Statement from a Montague:

Romeo’s cousin Benvolio says- “I still can’t believe this has happened! Romeo was a good kid, my little cousin. Those Capulet’s started all of this, I should have protected him, maybe he still would of been a live."

Juliet was a 13 year old Capulet. She was young and naive. She never had any freedom. Paris wanted to marry her but she was not interested in marriage until she met Romeo. Her and Romeo had secretly got married. They decided to run away which caused her to fake her own death to not marry Paris.

Statement from a Capulet:
Juliet’s mom Lady Capulet says- “Why did this happen to my Juliet, My young beautiful daughter?! She did not deserve this! That Romeo just came into her life and messed it all up. She could have married Paris and had a great life.”

Consequences to this tragedy

After all of this has happened the prince of Verona has made many thoughtful punishments. He decided to put the Friar on trial for the deaths. The friar knew everything that was going on and did not say a word, instead he helped them out . The Nurse is also going on trial. She was Juliet’s guardian and let her do whatever she wanted even if it was bad. The households now have to deal with each other and settle their differences; They have to be good neighbors and help each other out in the community. If there are any more problems the prince will take them to further charges.

"Mercy" Killing

1. Reflecting on Of Mice and Men
a. Explain George's perspective for what he did to Lennie.
b. Do you think that was the best thing to do for Lennie?

From George's perspective I think that he thought it was the best thing to do to Lennie. Lennie sometimes didn't know how to control himself and would forget everything. That would cause him to get into huge problems. Because of that they never had a stable place to work and live since they would always have to run away. I think that a lot of different thoughts where going in George's mind since Lennie was his traveling partner and Curley wanted to kill him and it wasn't easy for him to do what he did. He thought that it would be better to take Lennie's life away rather then for him to be suffering later on. In a way it wasn't good for George to kill Lennie but it was for the best.

2. a. Using a "quote" to support your response, explain the father's reasons for what he did.
b. Using a "quote" to support your response, explain if that was the best thing to do for the daughter.
c. Do you agree or disagree with what the father did? Why?

"Late last year, 67-year-old Beppino Englaro, won an intense 10-year legal battle to allow his daughter's feeding tubes to be removed, saying that was her wish."
In other words, The father knew that his daughter chose death instead of being incapable of living a good life. I think that this really hurt the father cause its never a good thing to kill someone, but he didn't have another choice. His daughter chose to die.

"Patients do have a right to refuse treatment, but they are barred from giving advance directions on what treatment they wish to receive if they become unconscious."
Put another way, patients don't have to listen to doctors if they don't want to and they don't have to keep on doing something they don't want such as using treatments even if it causes death. His daughter was very ill and if she was just gonna keep on living by her being in the hospital for 17 years then it was the best thing to do. Why was she gonna be kept alive if she cant do anything else but sleep in bed.

I agree with what the father did. I know that if i was in his daughter position i would want my family to do the same thing. It may seem bad and cold to do such a thing, but the person was just living to suffer.

3. a. Imagine and list things that might have been going through the father's mind as he contemplated his "mercy" killing. (In the article, the father's suicide note gives specific evidence of why he did what he did. Elaborate on it.) Specifically, what could he have been negative or paranoid about?
b. Unfortunately, with America's failing economy, many professionals are losing their jobs. While many do not resort to something as extreme as the man in the article, it does cause stress within families. What are some ways that parents can support children (to succeed in life) that do NOT require money?

I think that the father had a lot of negative thoughts in his mind.

Some must of been:

  • "How where we going to live without a job?"
  • "How where we going to pay for bills and needs?"
  • "Where was my family going to live?"
  • "How am I going to take care of my wife and five children?"
I guess he thought that without a good job there was going to be no way of his family having a good life.

America now a days is going through a lot of bad situations specially with the economy a lot of workers are getting fired and families are being put in bankrupt. Many kids have more than they actually need. A child doesn't always have to be given what they want. Instead of teens and kids going to mall or shopping and just wasting money as they get it they can do other things like joining hobbies; parents can help them by not giving them as much money and instead spending time with them. Technology is the one thing that is on teenagers mind. You see every kid with a cell phone, camera, x -box, and other unimportant things.I don't think they really need these things, If a parent doesn't have enough money to be paying the bills for technology that kids could deal good without they shouldn't be spending it. If a parent wants their children to have a successful life then they should make sure to take their kids to school and get a good education. Also, to not be distracting them with things they don't need and putting positive things in their mind like having a good joyful life, caring for them, and loving them.

4. After reading Of Mice and Men and the two articles, what is your stance on euthanasia? Is "mercy" killing a legitimate way to ending someone's life? List any exceptions, if you have any. (This response should be 7-10 sentences). After posting this blog, comment on 3 other classmate's blogs. In your comments, you will explain why you agree or disagree with their response to #4.

My stance on euthanasia is that it is good for the right reasons. If someone is unable to have a good life and is just being kept alive by being hospitalized then "mercy" killing is a good thing only if the patient wants it. Though if a person just wants to go killing people for no good reason just because they think its the best for them to die then its not. "Mercy" killing can be helpful to some people but it shouldn't be the only way to "help" someone. There is other options too like going to therapy instead of killing. If all you do is "Mercy" killing then you would never know if the person they killed would actually had a better life a live later on in the future. It is only okay when its the only option they have.

Lord of The Flies- Little rascals!

1a. Find and post a picture of a celebrity, athlete, cartoon character, etc (male OR female) who would best play RALPH. 1b. Answer the following in a complete sentence: Who is this person? Give five thoughtful reasons this person would play RALPH well (use descriptions, personality traits, roles, actions, motives, etc)

The role of Ralph would be by Travis Ted
ford. He came out in the movie "The Little Rascals". He would play a good Ralph because his role in "The Little Rascals" was as the leader. He was always there being helpful. Like a leader he laid down the rules and made sure everyone followed them. He always wanted what was best for his friends and for himself. He also defended himself against his enemies.

2a. Find and post a picture of a celebrity, athlete, cartoon character, etc (male OR female) who would best play JACK. 2b. Answer the following in a complete sentence: Who is this person? Give five thoughtful reasons this person would play JACK well (use descriptions, personality traits, roles, actions, motives, etc)
The role of Jack is Sam
Saletta. He also came out in "The Little Rascals". His role in the movie was a snotty boy who didn't get along with the other boys. Sam's role was the enemy of Travis Tedford. They would always fight and go against each other just like Jack and Ralph. He's very mean and is always looking for trouble to get his way. Although Jack isn't always looking for trouble he does do a lot of mean things to get what he wants.

3a.
Find and post a picture of a celebrity, athlete, cartoon character, etc (male OR female) who would best play PIGGY. 3b. Answer the following in a complete sentence: Who is this person? Give five thoughtful reasons this person would play PIGGY well (use descriptions, personality traits, roles, actions, motives, etc)

The role of piggy would be Zachary Mabry. Like Sam Saletta and Travis Tedford, Zachary also came out in "The Little Rascals". Zachary is great for the role of piggy. In the Movie he was known as "Porky" which has a resemblance with the name "Piggy". He was always by the leaders side just like Piggy . He is a little younger than most boys so his voice wasn't really heard. He's really nice, and kids can take advantage of that like with piggy.

4a. Find and post a picture of a celebrity, athlete, cartoon character, etc (male OR female) who would best play SIMON. 4b. Answer the following in a complete sentence: Who is this person? Give three thoughtful reasons this person would play SIMON well (use descriptions, personality traits, roles, actions, motives, etc)
Bug Hall would be perfect for the role of Simon. Though he was one of the main characters in "The Little Rascals", he did things on his own like Simon. He spoke his thoughts though it would be hard for him. Also he would do what he thought was right even if that meant leaving the rest like when Simon left the tribe.

5a.
Find and post a picture of a celebrity, athlete, cartoon character, etc (male OR female) who would best play ROGER.
5b. Answer the following in a complete sentence: Who is this person? Give three thoughtful reasons this person would play ROGER well (use descriptions, personality traits, roles, actions, motives, etc)

Blake Jeremy Collins is the role of Roger. Like all the rest of the actors he came out in "The Little Rascals". His personality in the movie was as a mean character. He was best friends with the role of jack (Sam Saletta). His personality is careless; he didn't care of the damaged he would cause. He would also just be looking for trouble just like Roger.

6. Find and post a picture of what you would use as your "beastie" (you can have more than one)
A mean cat
7a. Find and post a picture of a place you would like your movie to take place (this does NOT have to be an island - think of another place your characters can be stuck)
7b. List at least three things you would change about the story (this may be due to setting OR just personal preference)

The Museum
Three things I would change and put the story are:
1.)The boys would use a Flashlight instead of a Conch.
2.)The "Beastie" lived in the museum.
3.)
Piggy wouldn't Die but would get lost for a while.

8. TITLE: Would you keep the title
Lord of the Flies the same? If not what would you change it to?
I would change the Tittle from "Lord of the Flies" to "Lord of the Rascals".

Hiroshima

1. This place looks nice and peaceful. It is the Hiroshima Prefecture Industrial Promotion Hall.It was the atomic bomb dome, located 200 meters from the hypo center. It reminds me of a place that would be full of people, traffic, and everyone needing to be somewhere.Like a typical day in the city.I think this place didn't deserve to be bombed.

2.This was Hiroshima after the bombing. It's really sad to see. They took away a place where innocent people had their lives.Everything was destroyed!.All the peacefulness was taken away.

3.This picture is a person that dies in the bombing.I cant tell if its a man, women, boy,or girl.I think that this persons death was very unfair.A innocent person that had nothing to do with the government died. But not only him/her but a lot of others also dealt with something they weren't even apart of.

4. I see that not a lot of people survived. The ones that did tried hard to survive. For the survivors its very sad and traumatizing to experience and see everything that happened.I wouldn't know how to react in their position. They are very lucky to survive.

2nd assignment: Views on Abortion

1. What is your stance on abortion? Give three reasons why (this is your own thoughts). Explain clearly and use a lot of detail. -( 5 points)
I think abortion should be and stay legal. It's not like just because it becomes illegal women are going to stop doing it but it would be better if they would just take their responsibilities and not have an abortion.Although it would be better for their safety to have an abortion the safe way then unsanitary. I also think that even though its bad and I know I would never do it but its the women's choice to do what she wants with her body.

2. Copy/paste evidence that supports that supports your views. Make sure you use quotation marks (" ") because these are NOT your words. - 3 points
" This leads some people to claim is that it is unethical to ban abortion because doing so denies freedom of choice to women and forces 'the unwilling to bear the unwanted'."

3. Explain the quote you chose for number 2 in your own words. You can explain it in the following ways: relate it to something that happened in your life or someone Else's, explain why you agree with the statement, explain it to the reader with more detail in case the reader might not understand the quote, or give the reader a hypothetical situation in which the quote plays out. (Whichever why you decide to explain your quote, you should have at least 3 sentences to be thorough) - 6 points
Its a women's right for her to get an abortion, not being able to do it violates their freedom. It is their right to do what they want with their body. If they know that having a baby might not be the best thing for them its their choice on not to have it. In the law it states that a pregnant women more than three months can't have an abortion.I guess its good that the baby isn't fully developed. However abortion can be very traumatizing for the person that's having it...Its always their choice!
